I am not sure if you know this, but Volcan Santa Ana erupted in October 2005. Two persons were killed and thousands of other people had to leave their homes in order to be safe. So, you should ask local people or some authorities if it safe to go up. You should also consider taking someone experienced with you, like a local guide or something.
